Business Against Domestic Violence

Business against domestic violence policy is a new initiative introduced by Yapi Kredi. This policy introduces mechanisms to support employees affected by domestic violence. These programs can be helpful for businesses in a number of ways. For example, these programs provide training and employee support. Additionally, these programs can be a valuable tool for preventing domestic violence and harassment in the workplace.

Developing a comprehensive plan

As a business, it is imperative to create a policy and procedures manual to combat the effects of domestic violence. It is also important to establish a stakeholder group that includes representatives of various departments. The key to success is a commitment from the top levels of an organization.

Employers should provide training to employees on how to recognize and handle warning signs of domestic violence. The training should also cover confidentiality and privacy issues. While employees may want to seek help from the company, actions that may have good intentions can actually make matters worse. For example, it is not appropriate for HR personnel to give personal advice to employees. Instead, HR professionals should be trained on how to handle situations such as this and be sensitive to the concerns of their employees.

An employee’s ability to report a workplace issue is key to ensuring the safety of employees. While there are still many misconceptions regarding this type of violence, knowledge of the problem is no longer an excuse. As Janice Santiago, employment advocate at Vermont’s largest battered women support group, explained, the culture must change to promote reporting of concerns and provide flexibility in dealing with the issue.

Executive buy-in

A business can take proactive steps to create a safer workplace for its employees. The Safe Work Australia program acknowledges these efforts and supports companies through an expert network and HR policy resources. The program has reached over 600,000 employees nationwide and has more than 140 participating organisations. To be successful, a business must have executive buy-in and implement proactive policies to create a culture of safety. Then, it must communicate with its employees to ensure they understand the support resources available to them.

Business leaders have a unique position in addressing the issue of domestic violence, and they have a duty to do so. It’s a duty recognized in international labor standards, and it makes good business sense to take steps to prevent and support victims. Statistics show that 60% of women who experience domestic violence are unable to maintain full-time employment. Employers can help by establishing workplace policies, creating awareness, and offering flexible schedules to help victims return to work. Moreover, business owners can use the opportunity to show their commitment to women and their work.

Organizing a team

The first step in organizing a team against domestic violence is to identify stakeholders. These should be individuals in various departments who are interested in the issue. Commitment from the upper levels of the organization is vital for success. This group should include representatives of organizations that are working in communities affected by domestic violence.

Once the members of the team have been identified, they can work together to help end domestic violence. The goal is to bring together organizations from many different sectors, including social service organizations, government agencies, and faith communities. The members of the network work together to develop policy and service models to end domestic violence. They can also help victims by offering support.

Once the team is formed, they should gather resources and training on the topic of domestic violence. The National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence provides training and resources that can be used by domestic violence organizations and communities. The Center also works to influence policy change and promote collaboration across sectors.
