Is Sooryavanshi Near Me?
In his latest film, Rohit Shetty expands his cop universe with the upcoming sooryavanshi. His Singham series, starring Ajay Devgn, and Simbaa, starring Ranveer Singh, teased the Sooryavanshi character. This character is similar to those of Rohit Shetty’s cop character in Simmba, and the director’s new venture is no different.
After two years, Akshay Kumar’s latest release has opened to thunderous success at the box office. The film, which became the first major release in Hindi cinema following the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, collected Rs 27 crore on its first day. As of the time of this writing, Sooryavanshi holds the record for being the biggest opener in Hindi cinema under the ‘new normal’. Roohi’s Rs 3.85 crore opening in March and Bell Bottom’s Rs 2.5 crore collection in February, Sooryavanshi has surpassed those records by a large margin.
The film stars Akshay Kumar as a police officer and Katrina Kaif as his love interest. The movie is another entry in Rohit Shetty’s cop film universe. The director has previously worked with Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn on the films Simmba and Singham, and has reunited the two in ‘Sooryavanshi’. Sooryavanshi is a rousing action drama and a welcome return to the Cop Universe franchise.
In this thriller, Veer “Surya” Sooryavanshi plays the role of an ATS chief who is tasked with hunting down a terrorist who has escaped from jail and joined the ranks of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). Bilal Ahmed, a renowned terrorist, and his son Riyaz, a sleeper cell leader, planned to carry out further bombings after the 26/11 attack, but they were both captured by Surya’s team.
In Sooryavanshi, Surya’s mission is to catch the members of a sleeper cell, and he attempts to reconcile with his estranged wife, Ria Gupta. During the hunt, he encounters Kadar Usmani, who is actually a terrorist. Bilal is armed with 600 kilograms of RDX, and he leaves with a taxi driver, John Mascarenhas. The two men later return to Bangkok. Bilal explains that the bombings were meant to be revenge for his family, which was killed in riots. He then shoots himself.
Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad
After the arrest of the first accused in the Mumbai terror funding case on May 24, the anti-terror squad in J&K has arrested a second person in connection with the case. The second arrested person is the alleged handler of the first accused Mohammd Junaid Mohammd Ata. According to the Anti-Terror Squad, the accused was found in a bathroom loft at his Mumbra residence. The accused had links to narcotics dealers and was arrested after a multi-state chase.
The ATS was established in Maharashtra in 1990 by Aftab Ahmed Khan, who is widely known as A.A. Khan. The ATS was inspired by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics squad in its fight against modern-day terrorism. The team’s members have earned 23 gallantry awards and have been involved in several high-profile operations. Karkare and his team were also involved in the hostage-rescue operation on 26 November 2008.
